Ann Surapruik joined Bush Gottlieb in 2022 as an associate.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Surapruik represented public sector unions in labor arbitrations, administrative hearings, and in court, and represented employees in cases involving race and gender discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and whistleblower claims. Ms. Surapruik also worked as a staff attorney at Bay Area Legal Aid serving clients who face employment, housing, and other barriers because of their criminal records. While at Bay Area Legal Aid, she worked with a team of attorneys to bring impact litigation demanding compliance with ban-the-box ordinances, housing and consumer protection laws, and other laws for individuals with prior convictions. She also represented clients in administrative hearings to appeal the denials of their occupational licenses and housing, served on the Contra Costa County Community Advisory Board on Public Safety Realignment, and was actively involved in the union as a steward and member of the bargaining committee.
Ms. Surapruik earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where she specialized in Public Interest Law & Policy. She also has a Master’s degree in Public Health. Before law school, she worked in Washington D.C. in various capacities, including for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, a U.S. Congressional Representative, and national advocacy organizations, primarily focusing on policies that promote access to services and equity for immigrant and minority communities.
