Jennifer Abruzzo is a distinguished labor attorney, renowned for her unwavering commitment to workers’ rights and her transformative leadership at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). On April 21, 2025, she joined Bush Gottlieb, bringing her extensive experience and deep commitment to advancing labor law and empowering workers.
Abruzzo dedicated almost three decades working at the NLRB, beginning as a field attorney in Miami and ascending through various roles, including Deputy General Counsel and Acting General Counsel. In 2018, she served as Special Counsel for Strategic Initiatives at Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO (CWA), the largest media and communications union in the United States.
Appointed by President Joe Biden, Abruzzo served as General Counsel of the NLRB from July 2021 until January 2025. Her tenure was marked by significant initiatives resulting in the largest expansion of workers’ rights in decades, including advocating to ensure employees have the right to have a timely and fair process for seeking union representation, free from interference; enabling misclassified workers to organize and take collective action; protecting employees participating in social, racial and economic justice movements; challenging employer practices, such as conducting mandatory captive audience meetings and requiring non-compete clauses; and mandating full remedies to compensate employees for all direct or foreseeable pecuniary harms resulting from unfair labor practices. Her leadership in enforcing federal labor law played a pivotal role in supporting successful unionization efforts throughout the country.
Following her tenure at the NLRB, Abruzzo joined Bush Gottlieb as Of Counsel. In this role, she continues her lifelong commitment to empowering workers and advancing labor rights, ensuring that her vast expertise and experience will help support workers and unions as they engage in collective action and good faith bargaining and promote equitable workplace practices. Abruzzo is also Senior Advisor to the President at CWA.
