Sarah True joined Bush Gottlieb in April 2025. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. True served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow and staff attorney at Root & Rebound where she represented people who experienced unlawful discrimination in their job application process due to a conviction history.

Ms. True graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2022, with a specialization in Public Interest Law and Policy and Critical Race Studies. While in law school, Ms. True participated in the Reentry Legal Clinic, a collaborative project between UCLA Law and A New Way of Life Reentry Project that assisted clients in drafting declarations to support their conviction record expungement petitions. She interned with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s office and Rights Behind Bars, and was a Research Assistant for Professor Ingrid Eagly. She received the Masin Family Academic Gold Award in Employment Discrimination Law.

Prior to law school, Ms. True worked at Impact Justice, the nonprofit organization that operated the National PREA Resource Center via a multi-million dollar cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice. She helped establish the nation’s first federally-mandated audit of U.S. correctional facilities, and directed auditor training, continuing education, and quality assurance for the process.

Ms. True is a proud alumna of the National Organization of Legal Service Workers, UAW Local 2320.
